Empty Shops Project has launched!

Today, at 2.30pm, Empty Shops Project was officially launched by the Mayor of Newport, Cllr Jarvis, who cut the ribbon outside the Dragon's Den, which was packed to the rafters!

Loads of people enjoyed the speeches, a chance to see the winning SuperDragon designs, tours of the shops, a dragon parade from SWICA, live poetry and some wonderful fairy cakes!

You can see some pictures of the launch here.

  1. Without wanting to sound like The Joker, Newport city centre needs a ruddy big boot up the bum and it seems that the Empty Shop Project team are the ones wearing the boots...

Good luck to you all, David GW Bartlett

  3. David - thank you - kind words!

Anonymous - there are departments in the council working on the regeneration of the city centre. Unfortunately, these shops are currently empty, and we have taken the initiative to bring some colour and vibrancy to the empty spaces. The shops remain available for retailers to move in at any point, but in the mean time, we hope that we are improving the city centre.
